back in Fairfield!

Being at school at OSU is fun and exciting and all... but sitting here on my bed, under my huge warm fluffy comforters, with my house around me and my family close, I realize that as awesome and fun as OSU is, it can't really compare to the sense of love and security that I feel here. Not even close. Not even in the same league. This is still home for me. :)

Finals week

Well, it's been a long, difficult, and fun quarter, and after tomorrow my classes will be completely over! :) My last final is tomorrow at 11:30, physics. I'm taking a break from studying for it right now to write this lol. This week has been fun. Finals week, (besides all of the studying lol,) is always fun because it's different from the same old schedule of classes everyone has been going to for the past 10 weeks. And my favorite times to be at school are those couple of days after finals, where everyone for once can let loose and have fun staying up late knowing because there is no pressing school work to be done, (and my friends and I are always working lol.) So tomorrow for dinner my math friends and I are having a Fiesta! We are all bringing the spiciest foods we can make and it is going to be AWESOME! :D Me and one of my vegetarian friends are going to combine our forces and make some master vegetarian chili. It's going to be awesome. And very very hot!!!

Caroline left this morning, so now I'm all alone in our little suite. It's nice and peaceful. Since I'm working, I get to stay until Saturday evening. I work until 5pm, and then my parents, and hopefully Maria (unless she has a bunch of homework,) are coming to pick me up and I'll be homeward bound! And then Sunday is the church's Christmas dinner and I'll get to see all my friends! Yay I'm super excited.

Okay well I guess I shall return to studying physics...

must restore natural appearance...

do de dooo.....working Taylor Mart right now. As an OA (official title of my job: Office Assistant. woowoo!) I either work the front desk on the first floor or Taylor Mart in the basement (where I am now.) At Taylor Mart you can rent out kitchen supplies and games and stuff. It's less busy than the front desk so I like it because I can get more stuff done while I'm working.

I felt the need to upload a regular picture of me because I kept seeing those pictures from Halloween and I get freaked out because I'm like whoa who is that?? that doesn't look like me! so yeah. Here's proof that I'm still normal-looking. My hair is back to its original color again. and no crazy make up. lol.

yep... life is good. My second round of midterms starts next week. Sweet.

I am super excited for Thanksgiving!!! I can't wait to see all the cousins. :D

Things I've learned recently:
+It is impossible for me to stay awake during a midnight movie, even one as exciting as Quantum of Solace, in a huge loud theater of college students, when I am running on 2 hours of sleep. (Physics problem set was due today!) The only parts I remember are the beginning and when he leaves some dude in the middle of a desert with a can.

+I should start my physics problem sets earlier in the week! :P (lol jk, I do, but last Thursday I had to work 1am-4am and I didn't get any homework done because we had to mop and clean the office.)

+speaking of splashing in the puddles...Riding one's bike in the rain results in one's pants becoming completely soaked. I mean, when I walk in the rain lots of times my jeans will soak up water up to the knee or something, but when I was on my bike, my entire pants were soaked! From the wet seat, to being splashed every time I went through puddles....and I was in a hurry, because I had to get to work on time. And I had to get there with enough time to spare to change pants haha.

+Chinese dvds do not play in my laptop.

+Caroline is an amazing cook and I am spoiled to have her as my roommate!! :D

+I love Jesus. (not that that's recent. but still. :D)

alright. I still have a half hour to work...so there is the potential that I may do something productive. :) hope everyone is doing well!

Halloween!

So Halloween was last Friday. One of my math friends was having a party that a bunch of us went to. It was fun. And then afterwards we went back to one of our dorms and played Eucre (I won! :D) I had to work Friday night from 7pm-10pm, so I was doing my make up while I was working lol...it was funny because people would come up and I had one eye done, or partly done so it looked like I had a black eye or something. But I had a lot of fun doing my make up. It's like art. So after I finished I took some pictures with my webcam lol. Unfortunately Caroline and I forgot our cameras for the night... (we realized this as soon as we had boarded the bus,) so I don't have any pictures of me full-costume. Anyway I realized I haven't told you what I was.... so I'll let you look at my few sparing pictures first. See if you can guess :P oh and p.s. I also temporarily dyed my hair black for the occasion. (It washes out in 8 shampoos.) My hair is supposed to be straight in this picture but it crept back into waves as the day wore on. I re-straightened it to the equivalence of a chalkboard before I went out though. lol.
p.p.s. that first picture totally creeped me out because I don't think I look anything like myself lol

Some of you will not appreciate the skill it took to do this eye make up. lol. Did I mention that was the most fun part of my whole costume? I pretty much just picked this so I could have cool eye make up.
Okay. Still can't guess? That's okay. All you have is the make up. Not even the correct hair. ...anyway, I was Cleopatra. Or at least I was supposed to be lol. I wore a dress that Melanie's roommate wore in a Greek play or something. I liked the dress; it was cool. It definitely looked Greek-ish, though, which is sort of (not really) the same style as Egyptian. I got a couple "Are you supposed to be a Greek goddess?" remarks, but some people recognized me as Egyptian lol. It was a fun night. :)

new [old] bike!!! :D

I am SUPER excited to announce that earlier this afternoon I purchased a gorgeous blue-green one-speed antique-ish bike at a second-hand bike shop. It took me 30 minutes to walk there and less than 10 to get back! yay! I have named her Gueneviere, (I should look up how to actually spell that,) because she is pretty. lol. And I don't care that it's a one-speed. Columbus only has one hill and that's the landfill. And I was fine biking all the way back. And lots of people in Columbus have bikes, so I'd say it's a pretty bike-friendly city, i.e. no one gets mad when bikers ride in the streets and stuff. So yeah I'm super excited. And if anything ever happens to the bike I can just take it back to the shop and they'll fix it! yay. Also, my friend Paul had an extra bike lock that he gave me so I didn't have to spend money on that.

Caroline and I have an (illegal--shh!) toaster oven now that we LOVE! The opportunity of toast for breakfast encourages one to actually have breakfast. And everything (pizza rolls, left overs, smore's and other concoctions we think up,) tastes so much better now. :)

In other news, the first round of midterms starts this week, so pray for me on Wednesday 9:30 math, Friday 11:30 physics, and the following monday at 6pm for chemistry.

The weather is beautiful! It is one of those rare fall-feeling days. :) A gentle crispy cool breeze, partly cloudy skies, and colorful leaves that crunch beneath my bike tires. <3 All of us math crazies (as Maria likes to refer to us :) ) are going over to Joe's later to make pumpkin pies! yay. Fortunately this time none of us are limited by vegan-for-a-week dares, so we will actually be using the correct type of ingredients this time lol.

Well I'm going to attempt to get some work done before the festivities begin. Till next time!

:)

epiphany

I am going to stop trying to go through life like a normal person and live like I'm head over heels for Jesus.

new job!

Hey! So everything at OSU is going well. :) I got a job as an OA in my hall (working at the front desk.) So that's cool. It is very convenient, although this means I will have to work some middle-of-the-night hours. But that's okay, I am often awake at odd hours any way.

My classes are in full swing now. My first math and physics problem sets were due last week. They went well, or at least I think they did... I haven't gotten them back yet. Chem is going well. My first quiz is tomorrow. Labs are boring, unfortunately lol. But I am enjoying my classes. Physics and math are especially fun. :D

Caroline and I have a super awesome room. Once I feel that it is complete (we still want to get a few more decorations) I'll take some pictures and put them on here. Our friend James gave us a tv he found in a dumpster that works perfectly well. (We weren't going to have a tv since we don't watch much tv, but we like to watch movies and lap tops don't get very loud.) So then we went to Goodwill and bought a $5 tv stand for our free tv :D and Caroline had a dvd player from last year. We also got a $30 futon from Dump n Run (OSU yard sale)! Seriously. Everyone complements us on our room. Yay! It feels like home. :)

Alright, well I need to go fetch my laundry, do some chemistry, and then sleep.

Love,
Lisa :)

Back in C-bus!!! :D

Yay! I am back at good ol' Ohio State. :) I moved back in around 6:30pm, had floor meeting at 7:30pm, and then got dinner (Adriatico's pizza!) with my Centerville friends, (lol including the ones I did not see over the summer). Went back to my new home with Caroline and unpacked. I love our room! :) It took awhile because I wanted everything to look homey and perfect lol. And then I took a shower in my new shower! It was exciting lol. Now I am all moved in and happy. Tomorrow I will buy books and stuff, and then classes start on Wednesday. Well, seeing as it is 2:15am I am going to go to sleep now. I love you and miss you all!

Lisa :)

I has a face...

I added a picture to this blog. So you can see me. Nice touch, eh?

lol.

Hey it's almost my birthday! Sweet! I'm going to Graeter's for lunch with my mom to get a free ice cream cone. lol.

So during the hurricane-induced storm the high-speed winds knocked down the electrical box that goes to our house, which caused our electrical wires to pull out the siding of our house--all the way through. So there's a hole in my closet that goes outside. I'm on the second story. A bird could fly in my room if it wanted. lol unfortunately my parents were not as excited about this as I was, and a guy is coming tomorrow morning to patch it up...

speaking of which I need to clear a path from my door to my closet.

When I write my next post I will no longer be a teenager. lol. (yesss!)

Ramblings to pass the time...

Well, I am still sitting here in Starbucks. :) I had a very yummy bagel a few minutes ago. I am very thankful that the docs gave me a Starbucks giftcard (my last day of work at the pediatric office for this summer was last Thursday) it has proved to be very useful. :) Anyway... I'm just going to write another post to pass the time.

So I drove up to Michigan on Friday to visit Lindy at U of M, and then Saturday afternoon drove to Grand Rapids to visit Mark and Jen. I was originally planning on driving back home today, but I decided to stay another day in Michigan since over half of the power in Cincy is still out from the hurricane drive-by. And there is still no gas. So that is why I'm sitting in Starbucks while Jen is working. :) But I'm driving back tomorrow. And hey guess what my birthday is this Friday! That's exciting. lol. And then I move back to OSU on Sunday. I'm super excited to go back! I miss it. :)

A guy just sat next to me in one of the arm chairs and he is wearing an awesome blue and pink plaid shirt.

So I read a book yesterday. From page 1 to page 619. The Host, by Stephenie Meyer. I finished at 4am lol, and the day before that I finished Blindness by Jose Saramago, (both books=amazing! although different kinds of amazing lol. Blindness was kind of weird and thought-provoking and very well-written. The Host was an easier read, but very entertaining and suspenseful; hence the unable-to-put-down-till-it's-over dilemma,) so I'm kind of all booked-out for a day or two, which is why I'm not reading now. :P

I like bread.

Okay I'm done rambling. Have a nice day! :)

Prologue

Hello, world. :)
So this all began when I was trying to comment on Jen and Mark's blog, and I couldn't unless I had an account, so I created a gmail account, because it seemed like I should have one of those anyway. And since Cincy is still kind of recovering from hurricane-ish happenings, I am still in Michigan, having the time of my life sitting here in Starbucks as Jen works. :) It has been such a peaceful, relaxing weekend, full of cousin, brother, sister (I count Jenny :) , ) worship band, (my favorite thing in the world. Seriously. My favorite thing to do. All I want to do is worship 24/7 till Jesus returns. That would be the best life ever! I can't wait for heaven.) Anyway, weekend full of the aforementioned things in addition to lots of reading, (went to bed at 4 last night tehe,) watching movies, walking in the rain with super cute umbrellas, grocery shopping...Sam's Club is awesome! :D, oh, and eating really great food... Michigan is so beautiful. And Jenny and I were talking about how yesterday really felt like fall--that cool breeze, the sunshine bright but not warm, the crisp air, and the first yellow and orange bunches of leaves collecting on the ground below trees. Happiness. :) Fall is so beautiful. I love all of the different seasons. I always hope to live somewhere with very defined seasons. I like the change. Change is fun. Which is why I am going to (non-permanently--don't freak out lol) dye my hair purple when I get home this week! haha. Oh life is so much fun. :)

So yeah I don't really know what I'm doing here. I realize I'm kind of rambling. I'll probably go back later and try to organize things in some type of order. This is very entertaining. I'm glad I have this time here to do this. Organizing things is so much fun!!!! :D Alright. I'm gonna go mess around with layout and stuff. If you read this, thank you, I'll try to keep it updated especially while I'm in Cbus and such. Yay! :)
